FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions - Common questions and answers about DIM
Q. What operating systems are supported?
A. The application is not operating system dependant; however, it does require a recent version of Microsoft .NET Framework.
Q. What are the minimum system requirements?
A.
We always recommend Windows XP but the software should work fine on any
system that supports the .NET Framework. We recommend a
minimum of 256MB of memory and 50MB of free disk space for installation.
Q. Is DIM a multiuser system?
A. YES. DIM is designed to have multiple users running the application concurrently.
Q. Can we use DIM on Laptops out in the field? (Without a connection to head office)
A.
YES. When a user is disconnected from the network the software runs in
"Remote" mode. This mode allows users to create tickets for their
customers and print those tickets. Once the user is back in the office
they can synchronize their data with the central database.
Q. Will DIM work on our VPN?
A. YES
Q. How many users can run DIM at the same time at the same location?
A.
This depends on the performance of your database engine and your
server. DIM is designed to support Microsoft's SQL Express and SQL database
engines. We have some customers that have 10 or 15 users connected, at
the same time, to the central database running on Microsoft SQL Express. Use SQL Server if performance
is a concern. You can easily have 100 or more users.
